Jim is a Senior Motion Capture Animator at Epic Games, specializing in animation and motion capture pipeline tools, as well as helping manage and run Epic’s motion capture stages.  A lifelong gamer, he began his career at House of Moves where he was fortunate enough to work on some of his favorite franchises, including Gears of War, Uncharted, God of War, Halo, and Dead Space.  After eight years with House of Moves, Jim began working for Epic Games where he brings more than a decade of motion capture and animation knowledge to Epic’s games, cinematics, trailers, and special projects, such as demos for GDC and Siggraph.

This session will cover the evolving Motion Capture process at Epic Games, and how we leverage Unreal Engine 4 in our Virtual Production and real-time pipeline. I’ll also talk about how to stay passionate in a demanding production environment, as well as share some of my favorite tricks-of-the-trade.
